Priced from state rate filings

Every price here was rebuilt from the filing behind it.

Before an insurer may charge anyone, it files the whole formula with your state — base rate, breed, age, deductible, area, the lot. We read those filings and rebuilt the arithmetic, then checked it against real quotes until it matched to the cent. We don't sell insurance, so we can show you the parts a quote page has no reason to.

Monthly price at each age under today's filed rates, holding everything else fixed. Your real bill moves on top of this every time an insurer files a rate change — and those changes are public the day they're filed.

Every number here has a filing number

A rate filing is the formula an insurer submits to a state regulator before it may charge anyone. It is public. Here is exactly which one we read for your state.

Informational only — not insurance advice. K.Actuary is not an insurance producer in the United States. We do not sell, solicit or negotiate insurance in any U.S. state, we receive nothing from the insurers named here, and no link on this page is a referral or an application.

Where the numbers come from. Every price is computed from the rate manual each insurer files with its state insurance department and publishes through SERFF, the regulators' filing system. Each state lists the exact filing we read. We check our arithmetic against quotes taken on the insurer's own website before a state goes live; states we haven't finished reading are labelled as such rather than hidden.

What a filed rate is not. A filed rate is the insurer's published formula, not a binding offer. Your actual price can differ because of underwriting, discounts, optional coverage, taxes and fees, or a rate change filed after we read it. Always confirm with the insurer. Brand names belong to their owners; several brands here are written by the same underwriting company — we say which.
